         Nicole Mary Kidman AC (born June 20, 1967) is an Academy Award-winning actress, and one of Hollywood's leading actresses.she was born in Honolulu to Australian parents. Actress Nicole Kidman holds dual citizenship in Australia and United States. Her family lived in Washington DC until Nicole was three, then returned to Australia, where she spent the rest of her childhood. Her younger sister, Antonia Kidman-Hawley, is a former TV journalist in Australia, who now makes yoga videos and has hosted Australian television shows about raising children.

         As a young girl, Kidman took dance classes, and later studied drama and mime. As a teen, she performed at the Philip Street theatre in Sydney. Kidman's first film, Bush Christmas, was filmed when she was 15. A few months later, she joined the cast of The Disney Channel's Five Mile Creek, playing an orphan shepherd girl. At 22, she made Dead Calm, the thriller that brought her to America's attention.

Cruise left Kidman while she was three months pregnant, just before their 10th wedding anniversary. She subsequently had a miscarriage.The marriage was dissolved in 2001.          The couple explained their decision through their publicist, who said, "Citing the difficulties inherent in divergent careers which constantly keep them apart, they concluded that an amicable separation seems best." That statement further noted that the two highly regarded actors retain the utmost respect for one another, "both personally and professionally."

         The couple, who may be the most successful husband and wife acting team to date, met in 1990 while working on the film "Days of Thunder," where Tom Cruise, 38, admits that his first reaction to meeting Kidman was "sheer lust." The two became enraptured with one another almost immediately and were married in Colorado later that year.
